Publishing your site in DreamweaverMX

By making a site live the user could easily upload and publish web pages very easily. Before making a site live you have to first create a web site. Creation and defining of web sites can be done smoothly and effectively with the help of DreamweaverMX. This tutorial will helps you to define your site using DreamweaverMX. Before going into the tutorial the user should gain a basic knowledge about working in Dreamweaver. See our Dreamweaver tutorials for knowing the tips and basics of working in Dreamweaver.

 

Make your site live

  1. Open Dreamweaver and select the Define Sites down menu from the Site dropdown menu and click on the new button to enter the details of your site. The details to be entered are given below. Specify the name of your site and Select the local root folder by browsing through the folder icon in the local root folder.

  2. The most important step is to select the Remote info in the Category Box in order to establish a connection to the remote server. Also select FTP in the access drop down menu in the Remote Info panel type the FPTP Host (usually it would be the IP address or the URL of your web site).

  3. Specify the Login, Password and Host Directory also. The host directory is the root folder of your web site. After finishing all this, Click OK.
  4. If there is no error in the values you submitted you will be connected to the remote folder and could upload your files. Click the Site drop down menu’s Connect button to connect ot the remote site and you could see all the remote files in your left panel if no other error occurs.
  5. To upload the entire site to your remote site, select the local folder and Click on the Put button from the Site Drop Down menu.
  6. After finishing the whole uploading you can check your site online.
    Tips: Get is for downloading and Put is for Uploading files.
